Team Stories

Promise-Star (2)Michael Walker, Dishwasher

One morning at 5:00 a.m., Someren Glen found themselves without a Cook to prepare breakfast.  It was then that Vanessa Felix, the Dining Services Director reached out Michael Walker and explained the situation to him.  Although Michael is not a cook, he has those skills and without hesitation he got dressed and arrived at Someren Glen as quickly as he could.  Michael worked like a well-oiled machine, put everything together, and breakfast was served right on time, to the delight of the residents.  After the dust settled and the breakfast rush had died down, the Executive Director went to Michael, gave him a big hug, and thanked him for saving the day.  Michael looked at the ED, gave him a HUGE smile and said, “I just love these residents, I wasn’t going to let them down.”  This is not the first time Michael has stepped in to help in a pinch like this.  Whenever a situation arises, Michael remains unflappable, identifies the need and does all he can to make sure residents are served successfully.  Someren Glen is a better place with Michael there.
