Art pieces from five Someren Glen residents and twelve Holly Creek residents will be featured as part of the Artful Aging Art Show from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch. The idea for the juried show, which features works from residents of Windcrest, Vi, and St. Andrew’s Village, as well as St. Andrew United Methodist Church, was hatched during a bi-monthly networking meeting between several south Denver retirement community lifestyle directors. The talent of residents is a frequent topic of conversation at those meetings, and from there the idea evolved into hosting an art show not only for residents to attend, but to engage the larger community and shine a more positive light on aging.
“Our artists have some amazing work in the show,” said Anna Marie Connor, Director of Community Life for Someren Glen.
As a juried show, artists had to submit their works, and then a jury of their peers selected all the pieces that would be included. In addition to the wonderful artwork on display, guests can enjoy delectable appetizers and wine as well.
