It’s a sort of “homecoming” for residents who were temporarily moved out of their apartment home last fall for the very first phase of our residential living apartment revitalization project. We’ve completed the first 11 apartments, and we are moving folks back into their homes this week. Last week each resident had a sneak peek at their “new” place, and we are happy to report the updates received glowing reviews from each of them!
Updates include:
- opening up the kitchen area
- new appliances
- new cabinetry in both the kitchen and bathroom
- new solid surface countertops & new flooring
- the addition of a stackable washer/dryer
- quieter and more efficient heating and cooling throughout the apartment
- new light fixtures
- addition of high rise toilets (ADA height)
- new doors and entry system
Here are just a few pictures from the sneak peek:
Next, we will start on the remaining 17 apartment homes of the community’s same southeast corridor. Apartments on all three floors will be revitalized. Those residents will temporarily move to thoroughly cleaned and disinfected interim apartment homes from January 25th through the 27th. Construction will begin on the vacated apartments on January 26th. This construction process should last about 16 weeks, so we hope to have another sort of homecoming in mid-May.
The $10 million revitalization project is part of Christian Living Communities, the parent organization of Someren Glen’s commitment to regularly invest in each of the communities it owns and operates. This work is funded in part by proceeds from a bond refinancing.
